Why Horses?
There is a mystery and magic to working with
horses. Despite thousands of years of association
with humans, horses have not lost their ability to live
in the moment and to respond authentically to their
surroundings. It is this honesty which guides us into
an awareness of our own feelings and gently teaches
us to live from our hearts.
A window into our unconscious

Horses are the looking glass through which we
see our deepest self.
Getting to the heart of feelings can be difficult.
The mind uses many powerful tricks to prevent
access to tender places. Horses are sensitive herd animals
who respond to their surroundings. They react
to people's genuine thoughts and emotions. This is
what makes them such a powerful tool for transformation.
Without judgment, they can sense our often hidden fears, anxieties and motivations. They know
when we are deluding ourselves and presenting a face
which is not congruent with our inner emotions.
With the horse as the mirror, we can access these
unconscious feelings. Once we experience these
buried emotions, they no longer rule us. Old, unproductive
behaviours, which once erupted unconsciously,
are now in the domain of the conscious. We learn
to trust rather than avoid our feelings. As a result,
we regain the ability to be authentic, to make decisions
from this place of inner knowing and to manifest
our goals and dreams.
Living in the body
Horses invite us to be real, to live in the moment
and in the body where wisdom arises instantly without
thinking. Although humans rely heavily on language,
our bodies still 'feel' what is really going on
and are able to respond much faster than our brains.
We have suppressed those 'feelings' in favour of living
in our head and trusting the 'thinking' process to
be absolute. When we are present in our body, we
are able to make use of the myriad of information
which we are constantly receiving. Action becomes
more spontaneous, decisions come from the heart
and movement flows effortlessly and with joy.
Uncanny wisdom
The experiences that people have with horses are
sometimes difficult to put into words. Each experience
is different. What is most profound is that the
horse presents to the person what they are most
ready to learn.
